We're back in the saddle after a sand-filled getaway last week. So many new memories, and so much fun. And how beautiful!?

No sanks

Parker had a make-up swimming lesson this morning due to rain last week. So, we're getting ready and the following conversation transpired...

Me: "Parker, let's put on your swimsuit to go to lessons!"
P: "Ok, momma. I play with James?" (lifeguard)
Me: "Sure. Do you want to wear your swim shirt?" (rash guard)
P: "No momma."
Me: "You sure? It's sunny outside."
P: "No sanks. I wear my tummy instead."

A Story

Hey guys, why dont'cha come to my house.

Hey guys, look at this! It's sea lions.
Wow, look at them jump.
Oh look, there's a leopard and a lion. Look I see a giraffe. I see a zebra!

C'mon guys, let's play baseball.
C'mon guys, let's play soccer.
C'mon guys, let's play golf.
C'mon guys, let's play sandbox.

We need to go swimming guys, let's go.

I can do it myself, guys.

Poppa, gramma, you read me story?
I mooch you.
I wub you.

I think I have a good feeling what went down at the Moresville ranch while we were at the beach. :)

Pardon our pause

We're enjoying an early 10th anniversary trip with our very good friends...enjoying the beautiful beach sunsets, sharing lots of laughter, and making lifetime memories. So, we'll catch up more when we return this weekend—in the meantime, pardon a little moment for us to catch our breath and enjoy our time together.

Ribbit

We've discovered that not only are the frogs from last summer back...they are multiplying. Ew.

We found a thumbnail-sized one in the driveway the other night (the hard way) when the little man nearly ran over it with his tricycle. Instead it was much more fun to hop behind and chase back into the grass.



And wouldn't you know—where there's smoke, there's fire... a biiig frog next to the front door!

Weed Eating

He wants to be just like Daddy. In every sense of the word. So when our BFF's from KC gifted the little man with a weed eater for his birthday—well, let's say it took him one step closer to manhood. (oh, and it spins water out the bottom! Super cute!!)

Next he'll be asking for a frosty cold beverage and an issue of Maxim.

Falling in Line

Parker lines up everything. I know it's part of his development at this age, but it's kind of funny to see things lined up of his around the house: magnets on the dishwasher, cars, firetrucks on the toy table, letters along the bathtub...

This morning we were playing cars and he wouldn't move on to playing with anything else until all the cars were just so. "Wait, momma," he kept saying. "I'm not done yet. THEN we can play more toys."

I know, some of you have likely seen this on my other blog...but it's too gorgeous not to share.

A few favorite books

I love giving books as baby gifts. I know, clothes, bottles, and diapers are so much more useful, but I think books are one of those gifts that you'll get to enjoy over and over again.

We've had a baby boom among several of our friends lately, which is awesome--it's so exciting to see others share in the joys and challenges of parenthood--and we're thrilled for all of the new arrivals!! And many of them received some of our favorite titles, which we love for one reason or another.



Some of them are just fun (Paul Frank), some have beautiful illustrations (Picture This)--so gorgeous! and some are Parker's favorites (George). And some, no child's library would be complete without (Dr. Seuss). A wide variety, and like the recipients they are gifted to, so unique and beautiful. What are some of your favorites?

Parker's Adventures

This month has been a lot of fun for the little P man. A 4th of July trip to the "water house" to see cousins, aunts, uncles and of course G&G! He has loved every minute of it! As the month continues we start swimming lessons tomorrow morning. He is looking forward to it.

To get him ready, we went to the pool tonight to swim. He got a new swim jacket from some friends and he wanted to try it out. We put it on and away he went! Not scared at all! I could not believe it. Only if mom was there to see it, she was out at a photo shoot.

Take a look at the video and see what he did at the pool and also his favorite toy that Papa S got him!

As you can see he loves the water and as he says "my Jeep". He went off the board at the pool about 20 times! Daddy was tired! The lifeguards could not believe that he was doing it without any swimming lessons. He is going to be a swimmer! I love it!

Making Waves at the Water House

My apologies that it's taken me all week to get this post up. Not my intention, just how life goes sometimes.

We had a great time at the water house over the 4th. The weather didn't really do us any favors, but it certainly didn't slow down the fun.

Like playing at the beach and getting REALLY dirty. Hey, kids gotta be kids.


The sun finally broke through, the night before we had to go home.


We saw plenty of fireworks over the lake—a beautiful show. P wasn't nearly as afraid this year, but he didn't like the big ones that boomed. He even held a sparkler. Pretty cute.


Digging in the sand and finding rocks to skip across the water.


And a real, honest, oh my god family pic. Where I don't look like a total goon and the kid is actually looking at the camera with a smile. I could die happy. (Don't be surprised if you see some resemblance of this on a christmas card.)

Thursday already?!

I confess. I'm behind. (as you can tell by the serious lack of posts.)

Going to get some posts done, but in the meantime enjoy the slight pause in the air. Go have a tall glass of lemonade...
